Propsa Homes (Weaver Vale Housing Trust) and Morris Homes will deliver 22 affordable new homes by 2024 as part of a new development at Upton Dene in Chester. Selected by developer Morris Homes to deliver 22 new homes comprising a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership. This development with Morris Homes is now the fourth development in Cheshire between the two organisations. To date developments between the Trust and Morris Homes have provided more than 30 affordable homes in Cheshire. Work is underway on site at Upton Dene with the first homes due to be completed in April 2021 as part of the wider Morris Homes development of the 9.6 acre former NHS site, which in total will deliver 74 homes with 52 for private sale. The 22 homes consist of a mixture of flats and family homes for affordable rent and eleven three-bedroom homes for shared ownership sale. Jo Fallon, Assistant Director of Development at Weaver Vale said “We’re delighted to have been selected as the affordable homes developer at Upton Dene with Morris Homes. Delivering much needed new affordable homes in Chester will open up the opportunity of living in this desirable location where many local people can often be priced out of the property market. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for local people to get on to the property ladder and secure a home in their own city that delivers on excellent quality at prices people can afford.” With average house prices for 3-bedroom detached homes in the Upton area currently standing at £254,083*, these new homes will start from £209,000, with shares between 25% and 75% available, thereby requiring much lower deposits than standard sale homes. Upton Dene is the Trusts first development in the capital city of Cheshire and is part of the ambitious develop plan to deliver 460 affordable homes over the next four years, providing a variety of affordable homes for local people in Cheshire. *Source: Rightmove 2020 I Details correct at time of publication.
