After separating from her partner, GP receptionist Amanda Evans thought home-ownership would be out of her reach due to soaring house prices across Cheshire But after speaking to a colleague at work who had recently secured a property at Barrington Park in Alsager, Amanda decided to find out more about shared ownership with Prospa homes Amanda said: “We were in the process of selling our old house following our separation. I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford a mortgage on my salary – in my mind I thought I would either have to move in with my dad or look at renting somewhere else.  I had a lot of anxiety worrying about where myself and my two daughters would live. “Barrington Park ticked a lot of boxes. The houses are nicely-designed, they have a bit of character and it just felt very homely. It’s in a really lovely area, my youngest daughter goes to school down the road and it’s just a short drive from where I work. I got some advice, did the sums and spoke with my colleague about how it all works. Everything made sense so I knew it was the right option for me and my family.” Shared Ownership allows you to buy a share in a new home, ranging from 25% to 75%, depending on what you can afford. Prospa Homes owns the remaining share, and you pay a reduced rent on this share. This means that you need to get a smaller mortgage to buy the property, and will also need a smaller deposit. Amanda added: “The application was really straightforward, Propsa and particularly. Sam Pennington (New Sales Officer) were really helpful. Sam explained how everything worked – what I was responsible for and how the rent payments work.” Amanda had the funds  to put a down a deposit on a brand new home at Barrington Park, but feared the worse when the original sale of her old house fell through. “My heart sank because I thought I would lose out on this beautiful home,  but Sam and  Prospa Homes stuck by me, “ Amanda said. “It took four months to sell the house, but Sam was brilliant and true to her word. They put everything on hold until the house was sold. I thought I was going to miss out on this brilliant new house. I don’t think any other developer would have gone that extra mile for me. “My old house had damp and it needed a lot of maintenance and upkeep – I now have this lovely home in a really nice area. We are all settled – and the fact that my youngest daughter is able to walk to school means I can now work more hours at work. “Shared ownership was the right option for me – it’s affordable and I hope to buy more shares in the future.”
